This weekend was one of the first week's that finally felt normal: no big plans, Cody had Friday off and we were able to enjoy some good family time. Griff is doing some major teething right now which has made for some long days, but in between his whiny fits we were able to get some projects done around the house.

our mail box has been such an eye sore since we moved in. we live in a town that doesn't sell cute spray paint colors, so I picked up this green in lubbock last weekend and set to work. it is much more fun now and cody and I can't help but laugh every time we look at it. apparently that big dent wasn't as noticeable with the splotchy paint job, yet it the first thing you notice now! at least it's a pretty dent :)

cody put up a new latch so that our back screen door actually closes now. previously the metal was worn away and griff loved to push the door open and crawl out, which isn't really the safest thing ever. now it is nice and secure and cody and I have both smacked into it at least 6 different times, as we were spoiled to it just opening for us. let's hope we adjust to it before we break the door down.

cody potted some plants for me and we added them to the front of the house. I'm not totally sold on them {I really think it needs something bigger and eye catching} but they were only about $5 a piece on clearance at tractor supply so I will live with them. it's at least a step towards some landscaping.

I finished up this banner today, stuck it in the frame and cody hung it up in our dining room for me. it feels good to get something on the wall, though the frame seems to be slightly warped so we're having a hard time getting it on there and looking straight. another thing we'll laugh about every time we look!

we picked up some pavers at walmart so that we could move our grill off of our back patio. cody will probably have to level out the ground, but by moving this, we were inspired to clean off the full patio area so that now we can start getting some furniture out there and actually using the space. should be great for fall!

i've had this frame from hobby lobby for years, but finally got around to painting it. cody is now tasked with finding a way to hang it up and add some pizazz to our back door. if it were a normal wood door this wouldn't be much of a challenge, but we have a metal door and really the only solution we've come up with is to liquid nail it on and we're hoping to find something a little less permanent. seven years from now I might be cursing myself for glueing on a frame to my door when we have to buy a new one!
here's another picture of the frame because it's just so dang cute.

and one final sneak peek project for you! I finished up designing griff's party invitations today and can't wait to start making decorations. bring on the first birthday!
How funny I did a six on Saturday post too! Great minds think alike! Love your sign for the dining room and love the invitations! Can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the frame!! What about a magnetic door hook?
