Country Done Come To Town

Listen here people, if you ever feel like you have your life together and under control, you need to travel with a baby.

Normally when Cody and I travel for work we stay at La Quinta because our university has a discount code and gets a percentage back which goes into a scholarship fund. This trip however, we were staying at a fancy schamancy Sheraton. Like the kind of hotel that charges you for parking, (boo) doesn't have a continental breakfast, (double boo) and charges you for wi-fi! (triple boo and the ultimate disappointment)

So here we are, heading to try to check in, knowing we are on the clock until Griffin starts crying because he's hungry. We grab the necessities out of the car, which includes: pump bag and parts, nursing pillow, diaper bag, my backpack with road trip entertainment items, and Cody's bag with all of the electronics, all piled on us and/or the stroller. We take off for the front desk, not knowing we would need a snack and a map to make it there.

You had to take the parking lot elevator {which was also the slowest elevator ever} down to Level 2, walk across the ball rooms to what seemed to be the lobby area, take another elevator down to the ground floor, walk down to the North Tower to find the front desk, then you could check in. After checking in, you had to walk back to the lobby, take the elevator back up to Level 2, go to the South Tower, and then take the elevator up to our floor. All while trying to dodge the other 3,000 conference attendees who are also trying to figure out the floor plan so they too can check in and make it to their hotel rooms.

As we were dodging in and out of people, trying to keep up with all of our stuff {mind you, that didn't even include our luggage!} I could have sworn we had a neon sign flashing on our foreheads "WATCH OUT! COUNTRY FOLK DONE COME TO THE BIG CITY!!"


Traveling with a baby... it sure it a humbling experience!
