We've had a couple of great, full days around these parts and I feel like I'm just now stopping for the first time! My mom came into town on Thursday and I proceeded to parade her around town to show her what life is like here for us.
I started by taking her to our kick off MOPS {Mothers of Preschoolers} meeting on Friday. It was great to get to introduce her to a lot of my friends that I talk about, plus it was the first time she's seen the inside of our church.
If you're not familiar with MOPS, here's a great description from their website
MOPS is a grassroots movement that believes moms are world influencers.
We also believe that incubating hearts and giving just-because-hugs can change the course of history. That’s why we connect moms all over the world to a community of women, in their own neighborhoods, who meet together to laugh, cry and embrace the journey of motherhood. MOPS groups are rallying women to be more honest, to feel more equipped and to find our identity by journeying along side one another.
We are moms, and we believe that better moms make a better world.
The theme for MOPS this year is "A Beautiful Mess" and I am so excited for it. Based off of Ephesians 2:10, we're looking this year at how we're God's masterpieces and how all of us can be used for His glory!
I'll be honest, MOPS {at least in my area} is mostly made up of stay at home mom's, because it meets on Friday mornings twice a month. I have seen several friends posting about their MOPS meeting's on facebook though, and several of them meet on a week night so that working moms can also be a part of it. You can look at the website though to plug in your zip code and find out if there's a group near you and when it meets. Even if you were only able to go for an hour or so on your lunch break, you will still be blessed!
If you're in the trenches with little ones right now, I would definitely encourage you to look for a local MOPS group. There's nothing like having a group that totally gets where you are right now and wants to join with you on the journey!
